The future Documentation Center will provide the Foundation Flight, Expulsion, Reconciliation with a modern, multifunctional hall on the ground floor that will serve as an attractive event space for up to 300 people.
The diverse program will include eyewitness discussions, readings, discussion events, conferences, book presentations, workshops, and lecture series.
Collaboration with Berliners and our partners in Germany and abroad will also continue at this new site.
Information on the Foundation’s current events is available here.
Twelve million refugees and expellees were registered in East and West Germany in 1950. They had to eke out a living under extremely difficult economic and social conditions. Cultural differences also presented a challenge to the coexistence of the locals and the new arrivals. This is also evident in the traditional clothing that some Hungarian Germans continued to wear.
