The Foundation Flight, Expulsion, Reconciliation is developing a Documentation Center in Berlin on the subject of flight and expulsion. This includes the history of millions of Germans at the end of the Second World War. The loss of one’s homeland is a universal experience, and countless people continue to feel its effects, up to the present day. The Foundation will offer a forum for historical learning, with exhibitions, events, and research opportunities.

Flight and expulsion – an eternal theme?

Foundation Director Dr. Gundula Bavendamm, Professor Gesine Schwan (President and co-founder of the Humboldt-Viadrina Governance Platform) and Professor Horst Möller (former Director of the Institute of Contemporary History, Munich) discussed this topic in the History Live program on Phoenix in a roundtable moderated by Guido Knopp.
