Wednesday, 4 May 2022, 4-6 p.m.
at the Documentation Centre for Displacement, Expulsion, Reconciliation

The Education & Outreach Department cordially invites colleagues from the humanities, social sciences and social sciences to the training course "Expulsion and displacement as a historical and current topic" at the Documentation Centre for Displacement, Expulsion, Reconciliation in Berlin. We will introduce you to the educational offers you can use to integrate our extra-curricular place of learning into your lesson planning.

In the first training event for teachers and multipliers, we will show you how we use our guided tours and workshops in the permanent exhibition to teach about the displacement and expulsion of Germans in the context of the Second World War, but also how we discuss universal questions about (forced) migration experiences, integration and identity with pupils. Currently, we are also addressing references from Ukrainian and Ukrainian-German history in our educational work because of the war and the refugees from Ukraine. In the training course, we will reflect with you on the methodological issues of working with school classes in the Documentation Centre.

We will also give you an insight into our educational work on the current special exhibition "Our Courage. Jews in Europe 1945-48", which deals with the situation of surviving Jewish displaced persons in Europe after the end of the Second World War.

Teachers of secondary levels I and II of all subjects and school types as well as multipliers from the education sector are cordially invited to this training. Participation is free of charge. We will be happy to provide you with a certificate of participation.
